Plot

We live in Manhattan in today's 21st century world with today's hopes and today's problems. Plenty of things to write about without adding an extra element, but here's the catch. When we go donate blood, we unwillingly become test subjects of the government. We get injected with a serum that should enhance our brain and it results in us getting extraordinary abilities (very subtle at first). We don't realize what they did to us and we go home under the impression that we only donated blood. Without us knowing about it, we're being watched by the government to see what effect the serum has on us. As we grow stronger, they try to control us. We find out and run. In the second part of the story, we live undercover and try not to get caught. In the finale, we try to find a way to not having to hide anymore.

For example, if you pick telekinesis, at first you can only move feathers and other objects of the that weight, but over time (again, this will take a while) you manage to move heavier things :

Kjolmar: This is his first name and he is mostly addressed as such. Very rarely, it is shortened to 'Kjol', but that happened only once or twice so far.
Charles/Chuck: Charles is his middle name, which he uses whenever he wants to hide his true identity for whatever reason. It's often shortened to Chuck.
Crawford: This is his biological last name, linking him to his father Joseph Crawford.
Barrow-Delacroix: A last name that was added when he got adopted by a noble family.

Kjolmar is a male, 21 year old, bisexual Law student in his senior year at Columbia University.

Appearance: Hair, eyes, clothes, accessories, height, weight, (picture optional), ... :

Kjolmar has golden-blonde hair and blue eyes. He wears designer clothes and is often seen in the color blue. He wears a watch on his left wrist. Kjolmar is slightly taller than average and has a very subtle six-pack.

Personality: Behavior, deeper core, positive and negative traits, secrets, ... :

It takes quite a bit to get Kjolmar's attention, as he focusses more on himself than on others. This can give the impression he is arrogant and shallow, making people dislike him. Others find him charming and calm. Kjolmar acts this way out of self-defence, he tries not to get close with too many people. He can be brutally honest, he can be fake, he can be deadly silent, but most of all he can be unpredictable. He hides his deeper feelings, which can vary from passionate to hostile. When someone wronged him, he shall stop at nothing to get even. This being said, he can also go to extreme measures to help those who got into his heart.

Background: Family relations, important past events, big changes, ... :

Kjolmar has a very shallow relation with both his biological family (apart from his niece Emma, who he is very close with) and his adoptive family. He still cares a lot for his biological family, but he feels that he should keep his distance in order to maintain his own happiness. He doesn't feel a bond to his adoptive family, as it was always about the money rather than attention. It is not publicly known why exactly he was adopted.
When he was still with his biological parents, he went to highschool in Brooklyn. He was a troubled young boy back then and after getting in serious trouble and being adopted, he was transferred to Manhattan.
When he went to Columbia University, he moved to a dorm.

Abilities: You can pick 3 types of abilities (1 main ability, 1 minor ability and 1 unstable ability). You describe how they work at first (note that they can not be too strong at first) and how they will evolve over time. Because you can pick 3 abilities, it will take us a long time for them to grow stronger. For example, if you pick telekinesis, at first you can only move feathers and other objects of the that weight, but over time (again, this will take a while) you manage to move heavier things :

MAIN: Frost Touch - Kjolmar will have a very cold body temperature, like his personality can be. This will confuse him deeply, because he used to have a rather warm body temperature before the serum. After a while, he will be able to turn things to ice.
MINOR: Regenerative Skin - Even before the serum, Kjolmar had a natural talent of recovering from his wounds (both physical and psychological). After the injection this talent will grow on him. At first he will merely heal faster than before, without it being extremely fast.
UNSTABLE: Poisonous Saliva - The sneaky part of his personality made him get this ability. At first the poison will be rather weak, only able to make someone noxious. Later on, it will become lethal. Kjolmar doesn't always control this ability, hence it being unstable.

Weaknesses: You pick 1 weakness, either related to your abilities or just to your personality. For example it can be an extreme fear of fire.


1: Water - Kjolmar has an extreme fear of drowning that will prevent him even coming near lakes, wooden bridges, or even swimming pools. There is someone out there (NPC) that was given water abilities by the serum. This person can be Kjolmar's biggest threat.

Appearance: She is a tall, fit woman, who looks and acts her age without becoming tedious. She does not go for eccentric attire, but she strives for a fresh and tidy look at all times.

Personality: She is a rather peculiar person, mastering the skills of social politeness, but rarely opening up truthfully to the ones around her. Like every artist, she absorbs chaos and confusion, even more so than the average person.
She is single, but to compensate she is rather successful and known throughout the state. She gives away a feel of security and comes across as trustworthy as a general rule. She is extremely discreet and fairly stealthy in all aspects of life.
She suffers from asthma which makes her terrible at handling pressure and critical situations without them taking their toll on her in style, and Huntington's Chorea, a disease she is not currently aware of, as she has never met her biological parents, so the idea of a possible genetic disease has not even been planted in her mind.

Background: She was brought up by a couple unable to have children of their own. She has been told the truth about her having been adopted, but not once had she felt the need to start a search for her biological family, which incidentally put her current family at ease.
She exhibited an interest for human behavior as a young highschooler and after graduating, she moved to New York where she remained once her studies were done.

Abilities:
acidic blood - whenever she seems to be in an intense state of panic, her blood gets an 'acidic property' that can burn into various materials upon contact.
animal control - Neena can bond with animals at a completely different level - literally. Her entire life she has been under the belief that she can understand their needs and wishes, their purpose better than anyone else, but not once has she stopped to consider this would be something more than sheer passion for wildlife.
danger sensing - Neena has great intuition. It is a proven fact hat she will instinctively know how to react depending on various circumstances, what to avoid and how to approach a situation.
illusion - she is capable of controlling people's visual senses, but this is something that will not be easily accessible to her for a long time.
memory manipulation - she believes this practice is related to 'hypnosis', as known by society in general. She is able to unlock forgotten memories or erase them. She can currently do the former by the practice of hypnosis implemented in her sessions.

Weakness:
panic - she is a fatalist of sorts, or perhaps just a pessimistic person. Neena needs to feel safe constantly and her first reaction to breaches is panic. This triggers her 'acidic blood' ability, which condemns her to sometimes full hours of excruciating pain and, in extreme cases, leads to coughing up blood. Medical investigation has not once been able to figure out what could cause the coughing of blood.
aggression - Huntington's increases her irritability, sometimes without warning, so she can either shoot her mouth to the point where the sheer sound of her voice becomes an issue to the ones around her or have full-blown episodes of extreme violence that can even be translated as 'psychotic episodes'.

Oliver 'Olli' Lucas

Olli is his nickname and is the only name he accepts anyone to say. He hates the name Oliver.

Basic stats:

Olli is a 26 year old straight white male. Olli is a young actor currently doing small scale productions with his theater company.

Appearance:

He stands at about 6 foot with brown bed head look hair. This is his pride. It actually takes him forever to get right in the morning. Olli is quite vein at times and it can take him forever to get ready. He is quite skinny for a lad of his age but luckily has enough body to fill out a shirt at least. Olli is normally seen wearing a black smoking jacket.

Personality:

Olli is an outgoing person to say the least, being trained through school, college and university in theatre had much to blame there. Olli is normally quite energetic and friendly, he see's the world in a completely different way to everyone else. His world can be whatever he wants because to him that's what acting has done. One of his best traits is his smile. His smile is at times infectious. Olli is also very childish, admitting fully he is not ready to grow up just yet. His mischievous side has caused trouble on many occasions, and sometimes is too stubborn to accept the consequences. Olli's biggest secret is that he has been diagnosed with depression since the age of 16. This is something that makes stronger however. Olli hates telling people about it and keeps a strong barrier between it and his social life. Olli see's it as an obstacle he has to conqour himself. For this reason he does not take anti-depressants.

Olli has lived on his own since he moved out to go to do uni when he was 18. Since then he has not contacted his parents and refuses to speak about them or his past in detail. He now lives with his girlfriend, best friend and his best friend's girlfriend. A wierd set up but one that has worked for three years. Olli's main mother role now is his old university teacher, Nancy. Nancy is american and has made her name for herself in the world of acting. Olli has a strong bond with Nancy and ask's for her advice on most big decisions.

Abilities:

Advanced Linguist - Olli being an actor is very familiar with both the written and spoken word. This ability will at first start by Olli being able to understand languages he previously couldn't. He then will be able to perfect accents and actually speak in other languages fluently.

Appearance Manipulation - This ability will allow Olli to change parts of his apperance at first, e.g. Hair, Eye colour. Slowly he will be able to change appearance completely. This only works with other males. He cannot change into a woman.

Advanced Reflexes - An ability that will allow Olli to react much quicker to situations than usual, at first it may be simple stuff like catch things before falling but will go on to become a much needed evasion technique, almost completely eliminating the element of surprise in physical situations.

Thought Manipulation - This will let Olli maniuplate the thoughts of others. At first it will be lies which will occasionally be took as if they were the truth. With training could make opponents do something without them realising, however this will be very mentally draining for Olli and will not be safe enough to do for very long.

Blade Mastery - A skill that will let Olli be extremely skilled with an sort of blade. Starting at small knifes leading up to long blades such as swords.

Weakness:

Darkness- Olli has a full blown fear of the dark, and gets very hostile and fearful if spent in the dark for long, causing him to have panic attacks.
